Really charming experience to see the shepherd leave with the sheep going out onto the heath guided by a couple of sheepdogs.
Classic
Captivating panoramic views. Great place for clearing your head.
A beautiful sheepfold. The shepherd leaves around 9:30 am with the flock for the heath on the Dwingelderveld. The departure of the herd and the border collies is a beautiful sight. You can follow the herd fantastically from the adjacent observation tower. From the sheepfold, the 2.7 kilometer long Kloosterveld Wandering Route is highly recommended. You walk from boulder to boulder. Very fun for children. Due to the enormous amount of rain in recent weeks, this water collection area was partly inaccessible (too high water) but remains beautiful.
What is missing is a QR code on the wall of the shed. I wanted to donate but didn't have any cash with me. What a beautiful place for the sheep and a beautiful grazing area.
👍🏼super …
Beautiful trip to the heath. It is special for both children and adults to see how the shepherd brings her sheep, together with the dogs, to the sheepfold.
If you stand at the gate, you can see them coming in the distance, come about half an hour in advance. The sheep walk right past you.
There is also a lookout tower, with a very unfriendly staircase, watch out!
The information center is interesting to walk into. You can buy a coat for 10 euros and take it with you.
The sheep come from the heath around 5 p.m. In the morning they leave the shed and onto the heath again at 9.30 am.
BEWARE: in EXTREME WEATHER there are different times, so check the website!!!
Two disabled places nearby, but then a walk of at least 200 meters to the barn and the place where they enter/arrive on the heath. The other cars have to park much further back, at the visitor center, drive to the farthest point away from the center. Then it is at least another 800 meters of walking. Easiest, come by bike, you can park at the shed.
620 sheep & shepherdess with 2 boarder collies, beautiful day, beautiful encounter, seen so many sheep, when I start counting them I sleep absolutely well! Hercules is beautiful, 3rd photo
